Music Tuition

We are very fortunate to be able to offer music lessons provided by West of England Music and Arts service. Tutors come into school throughout the week by arrangement to instruct individuals. We recommend a child is in Key Stage 2 before they start lessons, but we are happy to consider children in Year 1 and 2. Children need to be able to commit to lessons as well as practise their instrument at home.

Piano, violin , clarinet, drums, brass and guitar are all offered - and other instruments may be available by request. Lessons are billed three times per year and payable via ParentPay.

For more information please ask at the office - letters for booking music lessons with WEMA tutors are sent out for the Autumn, Spring and Summer terms.

Former pupils have also taken part in the Churchill Music! Young Musician of the Year Competition at Churchill Academy.

Summer Term 2024

   Music Lessons, provided by tutors from WEMA, for the Summer Term will commence weekly from Monday 15th April 2024 . We have 10 lessons booked per instrument.

Provisional days for lessons are;

Piano, flute and recorder lessons will take place on Mondays with Mrs Elizabeth Chappell.

Violin Lessons will be on Tuesdays with Ms Yvonna Magda

Guitar Lessons will be on Mondays (Y5 children) and Wednesdays ( Year 4 ) with Mr Geoff  Hicks.

Drum lessons will be with Mr John Rackham on Thursday.

Brass lessons will also be on Thursday with Mr Ben Haslem

Children will need to make sure that they have their instruments and any music in school on the appropriate day. We provide the use of a piano and drum kit.

 In order to progress through their learning, children will need to be able to practise at home, in between lessons; if this is a problem, please talk to your class team in the first instance.

Also note that if you decide to stop lessons midway through a term, you will still be liable to pay for the full terms lessons.
