Newsletter 14

It has certainly been a hot few days! Thankfully it was a little cooler today and the children were able to be out enjoying the field, once again.
Thank you to everyone who joined us for our sports day, last Friday. It was super to see the children encouraging each other on and celebrating everyone’s participation and achievement. Thank you also to the PTA committee for their summer fair. We truly appreciate all the PTA and their committee do for our school.
As we work towards the end of the school year, we are preparing to say a fond farewell to two of our team.
Ruth Beadle will be retiring this summer, after 25 years of loyal service to the pupils, families and team at Churchill Primary School. Ruth has supported many of our pupils, including those with complex needs, enabling them to access learning and be able to have a full and rich primary school experience. During the COVID period, Ruth was a phenomenal support to the team, stepping up and leading key worker groups. She will be really missed.
We are also saying goodbye to Penny Hardwick. Penny joined Churchill Primary in 2016 and has been a fantastic member of the Year 2 class team, for the last 9 years. In addition to being class teacher, Penny has led the development of the reading curriculum across the school. We are extremely grateful for all of her hard work and commitment to the children and the team. We are delighted to hear that she may still visit us to help some classes with trips and hearing readers.
I am sure you will join with us in wishing them thanks and all the very best in their retirement and future adventures.
In my next newsletter, the final edition of the school year, I will be celebrating the many achievements of the last 12 months and wishing our super Year 6 class the very best in their future adventures.
