Music Opportunities
We quite often receive information about opportunities for pupils to take part in music events or clubs that happen externally to the music offered within school, or alongside that offer. This page will contain details of any such opportunities, including how to get in touch if your child/children are interested in taking part.
Many opportunities arise due to our partnership with Churchill Music or via WEMA (West of England Music Alliance). We are very grateful to both for the continued work they do to ensure such valuable experiences and opportunities are available to our pupils.
Children in Key Stage 2 have the opportunity to take up music lessons taught by WEMA tutors. Currently, tuition is given for piano, flute, recorder, violin/viola, guitar and drums. Tuition can also be requested for cello, double bass, brass, oboe and saxophone. To register for music lessons, please visit www.wema.org.uk/register.
Charges for a term of 10 lessons of a 20-minute duration is £155.50; a 30-minute lesson is £232.50.
We are also part of the Year 3 Violin Project which is organised through Churchill Music, who also partially fund the project. This gives every pupil in Year 3 the opportunity to learn to play the violin by accessing 10 weeks of half hour sessions with Helen Page, an experienced violin teacher who has worked with us for a number of years. All pupils in Year 3 are offered this opportunity at some point in that academic year. Helen also runs a violin club after schools on a Wednesday for any pupils who wish to play the violin or viola more - this is open to any pupils who have completed the Year 3 Violin Project or who already have violin or viola lessons. This is a lovely opportunity to play as part of a small string ensemble. Please see details below on how pupils can join the group and the dates for the coming term:
KEY STAGE 2 CHOIR - due to a change in Ms Ford's days, choir will now take place on Wednesdays after school in the school hall from 3.10pm to 4pm. This will begin on Wednesday 17th September. Pupils in years 3 to 6 will be offered letters with further information on if they are interested in joining.
