Newsletter 14
I want to start my newsletter by celebrating our fantastic Year 6 class, who showed an excellent attitude and commitment to their KS2 SATs tests. It was an absolute pleasure to watch how they approached each assessment and hear their laughter and the kindness they showed each other. This positive ’can do’ approach didn’t happen by accident. I am really grateful to the Year 6 team, the wider school team and governing body (who helped out during test week) and all their families for helping to ensure the children were feeling confident, with a real desire to show their best during the test week. They are now turning their energies and excitement towards their end of year show, ‘Pirates of the Curry Bean’.
At the end of this school year, we will be wishing a fond farewell to two much loved members of our school team: Miss Woodfine and Ms Ford.
Miss Woodfine has been one of the welcoming faces of the Reception Team for many years. Helping our youngest members of the school and their families to settle in has been a gift she has kept giving. Our Christian ethos states “Let all that you do be done in love”, Miss Woodfine has lived this vision in her actions and words throughout her 23 years at Churchill. She has been a real role model to others on how to nurture young people so that they can grow and be successful in the world.
Ms Ford is also sadly leaving us, at the end of this school year. Ms Ford’s work ethic is incredible and she has absolutely transformed SEND provision in our school. She has invested her heart and soul into helping pupils with SEND needs, and their families, to have the very best opportunities and support they need. I am sure so many families will have felt her kindness and support over the last 8 years. Ms Ford is stepping away from the teaching profession to explore her many other talents and skills in music and drama.
During Term 6 we will be celebrating their contribution to the school and wishing Miss Woodfine well in her future retirement and Ms Ford all the very best in her new adventures. Whilst our colleagues will be really missed, I am delighted to share that we have just completed a very successful recruitment process and we will be introducing our new members of the team before the end of the year.
