Today is the last day of the school year, bringing to a close a memorable and hugely successful year for Churchill CE Primary School. It has been a real privilege to have been able to lead the school through its 200th anniversary and to have received such positive feedback from the Nurture UK, Ofsted and SIAMS (church school) inspections. I am delighted to be able to share with you the report from the final of those inspections, our SIAMS church school inspection. It is attached to this email and also available on our school website. This is the third significant inspection we have had this year, and it further emphasises the strengths of our school and why it is regarded as a very special place. SIAMS highlighted:
- Churchill Primary School is joyful, welcoming and nurturing, with strong partnerships among staff, pupils and families.
- Churchill School’s actions demonstrate a lived commitment to supporting pupils, adults and families during difficult times.
- The vision and values of love, hope and respect are deeply embedded throughout school life and shape relationships, decision-making and school culture
- The school was praised as a nurturing and inclusive community where relationships are strong, respectful and rooted in love.
Earlier in the year, Ofsted recognised that pupils at Churchill 'achieve well' and are 'well prepared for the next stage of their education'. We are immensely proud of all they have accomplished this year. Through their hard work, determination and positive attitudes, our pupils acquire the knowledge, skills and character to flourish in their future learning.
One of the ways a school’s success is measured is in how pupils achieve in external assessments. The results of our phonics screening (PSC), multiplication tables check (MTC) and Year 6 SATs results, were shared with parents and carers in their annual school reports, last week. We are once again extremely proud of what our young people have achieved, with the percentage of children achieving the expected standard in the MTC and in reading, writing and maths combined (at age related expectation) being higher than both the national and Lighthouse School’s Partnership averages. Before we pause and take time to reflect on all that has been achieved, we are focusing our attention on the final celebration service of the year, where we wish our super Year 6 pupils a fond farewell and good luck for the future.
Yesterday, we celebrated the kindness, commitment and care of two very special members of the school team, Miss Woodfine and Ms Ford, who are both leaving at the end of this school year. We wish them both the very best in their future adventures, they will be deeply missed.
Finally, I would like to thank all of our families, pupils, Governors, school team and members of the PTA for your continued support this year. I would like to express a very special thanks to the super team of colleagues who make Churchill CE Primary School a very special place to learn and work. They all work incredibly hard and are absolutely committed to help every child to be the very best they can be. It would be impossible to offer the high quality of education and care that we provide our children, without their expertise and dedication.
