Reception

Welcome to Year R

Staff: Mrs Price, Mrs Isgrove, Miss Woodfine and Mrs Michael

A warm welcome to our class at Churchill Primary. This Term the children are busy settling into their new class and getting to know the routines of the day.

In Reception, we use the online platform 'Tapestry'. Tapestry builds a very special record of your child’s experiences, development and learning journey through their Reception Year using photos and videos. We, along with you as parents/carers, will regularly add to your child’s Tapestry profile. We also use this platform to provide a weekly update of the children’s learning and share important information with parents. We will put our 'Weekly Round-up' photos and learning information on this platform every Friday.

On Monday 16th September 2024 you will receive a letter detailing how to set-up your Tapestry account.

Our PE day is Friday. Please make sure your child has a named PE kit in school.

We do expect the children to read at home to an adult at least 5 times a week. We cannot stress how much of a positive impact this has on all aspects of learning.

In line with EYFS ethos, the themes for the term as detailed in our 'Curriculum Maps' are suggestions, we endeavour to follow the children’s interests as they naturally occur.

We understand and hugely value the importance of supporting children to settle happily into their new environment. Therefore, we will always work closely with parents and carers to enable a positive and happy transition into Year R. To support children in their personal, social and emotional development, we use the ‘Zones of regulation’ to talk about feelings and ways we can help ourselves feel calm and ready to learn.
