Pupil Premium and Free School Meals

Introduced in 2011, Pupil Premium is a sum of money given to schools, each year, by the Government to improve the attainment of disadvantaged children.  The Pupil Premium Grant (PPG) is intended to directly benefit the children who are eligible, helping to narrow the gap between them and their classmates.

We receive PPG for each child who is entitled to receive Free School Meals or who has been entitled to over the last six years, and for any ‘Looked After Children’.  If your child is in Reception, Year 1 or Year 2, they will receive Universal Free School Meals.  You can still apply for PPG as this will enable the school to provide  additional support for your child, now and for the following 6 years of their education in school.  We publish online information about how we have used the premium, you can access this through the links below.

We aim for every single one of our pupil premium funded children to reach at least national expectations and have made expected progress over their time in primary school.  We also want the attendance of our pupil premium funded children to be at least inline with all pupils.
We have largely targeted our additional pupil premium funding on:

• Ensuring we provide first rate quality teaching
• Targeted intervention where necessary
• Pastoral care
• Enriching experiences
