Swimming reminder:

Please note that Class 5 will be the first class to have their swimming lessons this year and this will start on the first Friday back up until the week of camp. Please make sure you have your swimming bag ready!

Year 5 expectations and reminders:

Please have the correct equipment ready to use for each day and please make sure you have your PE kit in school every day of the week.

Homework will be given out every Tuesday and expected to be completed by the following Tuesday. This consists of:
* Spelling Homework Sheet

* Times Tables Rockstars

* 5 reads per week - out loud to an adult. This can be anything that they want to read, not just their Home Reading book.

In the first week, please make sure that you have returned permission slips for how your child will be returning home (if they are picked up from school or if they have permission to walk home).
These letters will be sent out as soon as possible.

Welcome to Class 5!

The Class 5 team consists of teacher, Mr Davis and support staff of Mrs Beadle, Mrs Campbell and Mrs Bailey

Summer Reading Challenge 2022

This year's challenge runs from Saturday 9th July to Saturday 10th September in North Somerset Libraries.

The theme is 'Gadgeteers', developed in partnership with the Science Museums Group. The challenge aims to show children that science is all around us every day and inspire them to unleash their curiosity and creativity.

Year 5 have been busy starting our new literacy block by following and writing instructions. Based on the book 'Origami Yoda', we followed the instructions to create our own versions of the famous character. Well done to everyone who managed to complete the instructions and to those that helped others to complete their Yoda! The force is strong in Class 5!

Class 5 had a very memorable day out at St John's Church, where we were looking at the history and the meanings behind the church.
Each group participated in five activities. We took part in: baking after finding clues in the bible; creating our own clay crosses after some initial research; learning how to play the bells as part of a group; learning about the history of the church and the meanings of the different robes and rituals; and sewing our own designs after looking at the cushion designs.
We were able to share our experiences with parents in a short service before home time.

Fun was had by all and we would like to say a MASSIVE 'thank you' to the church volunteers for making it so enjoyable.

PSHE Term 6 - Changing Me information

Have a look at how we created our Maya temples and a closer look at our Moon art!

Remember to come dressed as your favourite book character and bring in a used book to take part in the book swap.

Year 5 have been very productive over the last 7 weeks!
We have been solving multiplication, division and fraction problems in maths, while working for NASA and understanding the role that 3 very influential woman played in the space race. We have expanded our knowledge of Earth and Space in our science topic - as well as creating some stunning space art! We have continued to explore the lives of the Maya and we have created our very own Maya temples after researching in groups all about them.
Please enjoy the photos of the past few weeks and make sure to visit back soon so you can see the makings of our temples!

Enjoy the half-term break! :)

Hello!
Please can I take this time to say hello to any parents that I have not yet met. Please be reassured that my door is always open if you have any questions, queries or just want to say hi!

In and out of the classroom, it has been a very busy start to the new calendar year, where the children have worked extremely hard in all aspects of their work. I have been so impressed with the way that they have adapted to the change in teacher and I would like to thank Mr Maddocks for all of of the hard work that he has put into the class over the last 18 months.

Keep your eyes peeled on this page for regular updates on what we have been up to - with some extremely thoughtful writing and mind-boggling fraction work that we have already accomplished!
