Our topic for this term is.....
Animals Around The World
There are very strong Geography and Science links- learning about the continents and oceans, which animals live in different parts of the world and why they are suited to these habitats.
This week is Children's Mental Health Week (6th-12th Feb)
This year’s theme is.........
Let’s Connect
Let’s Connect is about making meaningful connections, and for Children’s Mental Health Week 2023, Place2Be is encouraging people to connect with others in healthy, rewarding and meaningful ways.
Parents and carers are important role models, so how you connect with friends and family will influence your child and how they develop their own friendships and relationships eg. how to greet people and maintain friendships, but also how to forgive people or say sorry when you need to.
We listened to this story about an invisible string that connects us all. An invisible string made of love, even though you can't see it with your eyes, you can feel it deep in your heart, and know that you are always connected to the ones you love.
Country Dancing
We have really enjoyed learning these country dances this term. We hope you enjoy watching them!

Fourth 500 Reading Points
On Monday 30th January, we achieved another target of 500 points for reading at home.
We have voted for a disco as our reward, so we are having this on the last day of term when we are dressed up in our mufti clothes.
Great reading everyone!
We currently have 116 points towards our next 500 target.
Destination......
AUSTRALIA
We investigated and responded to Aboriginal Art using a palette of 'earth colours'. We learned some signs and symbols, talked about their meanings and listened to the real musical sounds of a didgeridoo.
Esther's stones from Australia
Geography - map work skills
This week has been an 'Africa' week and we used an atlas to identify some of the countries in this continent.

ANTARCTICA
Our Art unit for this term is 3D. So, making links with this term's topic, we used our prior knowledge of thecolourwheel to learn about cool/cold colours.
We are learning a new skill, the technique of card wrapping and using only cool colours of wool to make an Antarctic scene.
This technique is great for developing hand eye coordination. We worked hard to ensure that our wool strands lay neatly together and some of us have even learned how to tie knots! These photographs showcase our Antarctic work in progress.
Our first RE Islam lesson exploring special artefacts and pictures.
Money
This week we have started learning about money, recognising the coins, ordering them, counting in 1s, 2s, 5s, 10s, using vocabulary like....... curved, circular, circle, silver, 7 sides (heptagon) copper, small, smaller, smallest, large, larger, largest, value, worth, p, pence, pennies
First day back! We enjoyed sharing our Christmas news as a whole class in circle time, and then in more detail in pairs. The smiles clearly demonstrated some wonderful Christmas holidays!
