Term 4

Our topic this term is EXPLORERS!

Easter Card Challenge

Our challenge was to create a card with an Easter theme and a moving part. We had one hour to achieve our goal and we were all successful. Every card was different and unique.

Mark Making

We used our imagination and created a piece of art work in response to one of our class stories 'The Hodgeheg' by Dick King Smith. We used only white and brown paint and cotton buds to make a variety of marks.

Third 500 Reading Points Achieved

On Monday 22nd March, Year 2 achieved their third 500 points for reading regularly at home. Most points had already been collected before the end of term 2 in December.

The children have voted for their well earned treat........a disco, full of dancing, music and games.

Well done everyone. Keep up with the great reading!

We have been having lots of fun learning about 2D shapes.

Our challenge was to use 18 straws and see which shapes we could create. Some of us found out that we could make 6 triangles or three hexagons using all 18 straws. We have looked at regular and irregular shapes, pentagons, hexagons and octagons.

Using geoboards to make 2D shapes.

Our Art unit for this term is DRAWING.

We have been learning to make marks in different ways. To link in with our learning about Neil Armstrong, we listened and responded to Venus and Saturn, two pieces of music from Holst's The Planets.

We have been investigating and using expressive marks on a range of different surfaces.

                                            Welcome Back !

This week, we are all getting to know each other again, so we are all presenting a talk to the class on any subject of our choice.

Team Fitness Challenge

We all took part in a 'Fun Fitness Challenge'. We worked in pairs or threes and had some PE tasks to complete. All the tasks were placed under numbered cones. This afternoon's task helped us to develop our social skills and team work, communication skills, turn taking, maths and PE skills. We had great fun working together!

We all had a good catch up about our time at home. We sat outside and rotated our groupings so that we could share our news with lots of our friends.

Speaking and Listening Presentation for the first week back in school (starting Monday 8th March 2021)
