The annual event is back!

It's FREE to take part.

Sign up in any North Somerset library from Sat 10th July.

Read 6 books and collect a reward per book.

Complete the challenge by Sat 11th September to receive a certificate and medal.

Run by The Reading Agency, the Summer Reading Challenge encourages 4-11 year olds to keep reading books over the summer to boost their reading skills. This year's theme is Wild World Heroes- a very special nature-themed challenge in partnership with the World Wildlife Fund- that will inspire children to stand up for the planet.

Homework Expectations

Please make sure you have your school reading books and reading records accessible every day; so that we can listen to you read when an opportunity arises.

Every Monday, these will be collected in to check you are fulfilling your homework requirement (to read with an adult at least 5 times a week) and house points awarded appropriately. Reading at home can be your school reading book or a book of your own choice at a similar level. Please make sure all reading to an adult is noted in your reading record.

Spelling words will be given out on a Tuesday for testing the following Tuesday. Your completed sheet should be brought into class 5 on that day, preferably in your homework folder.

The hard work continues! Exploring Mayan life, investigating the wonders of the solar system and discovering the darker side of fairytales!

As well as having a week of maths and English quizzes, we also had time to learn some more about Kaspar and edit our writing; play some new maths games to practice our skills; investigate how different shapes can change the water resistance; and finish our layered paintings! All in a weeks work for Y5!

Where are these weeks going? We've been investigating what size parachute we would want with us and why. Also, we have concluded our work on Mr Petit and his adventures. We even had time to compete against each other by practising our multiplication skills.

Another very productive week! Roman numeral puzzles, researching Philippe Petit, Designing art based on an artist and a maths treasure hunt!

What a fantastic start to the year for Year 5!
